LOS ANGELES - The Harvard women's tennis team (9-6) clinched its first win of its spring break and its third-straight victory in California after defeating Loyola Marymount, 4-3, Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center.
The Crimson tallied the doubles point by winning 2-of-3 matches versus the Lions. The duo of Annika Ringblom and Sabrina Xiong defeated Jessica Perez and Elivira Juravliova with a score of 6-3, while June Lee and Nikki Kallenberg dominated the court with a 6-1 victory over Andrea Crespo and Julia Norlin.
Kallenberg, Xiong and Amy He topped off the Crimson's score with a triumph in their singles matches. Xiong, in the No. 5 spot, surpassed the Lions' Ellie Grossman in two sets with scores of 6-3, 6-1. Amy He defeated Anna Romeka in two sets as well, 7-5, 6-1, while Kallenberg won the first set, 6-3, and fell in the second set, 7-6, but held her ground in the third with a 6-1 victory.
The Crimson continues play in California as it faces UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, March 19 for a 6 p.m. contest.
