ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 17 Harvard-Radcliffe heavyweight crew team (6-2) fell to No. 9 Princeton and bested Cornell Friday evening in the Class of '75 Cup on the Cayuga Inlet.
Facing cold temperatures, but a mild tail current and fair conditions overall, the varsity eight dropped a nine-second result to the Tigers. Radcliffe was well ahead of the host Cornell, finishing nearly 17 seconds ahead of the Big Red.
Princeton also finished first in the second varsity and varsity four races, with Radcliffe open water behind in each. The 2V clocked a time of 6:52.3. The V4+ crossed the finish line in 7:34.4, nearly six seconds ahead of Cornell.
In the closest race of the day, Cornell posted a win in the third varsity event, with Radcliffe just over a boat length away in 7:05.7.
Radcliffe continues on the road for the Clemson Invitational April 16.
