Women's Tennis Falls Short to Alabama

Harvard will face Florida State on Sunday, Jan. 29 (Zack Williamson).

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Harvard women's tennis (0-3) could not overcome Alabama (4-1), falling 4-0 at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center Saturday afternoon during ITA Kick-Off Weekend.

Erica Oosterhout competed against No. 86 Erin Routliffe in the first position. Despite two hard fought sets, Oosterhout fell to Routliffe, 6-2, 6-2. June Lee saw action in the third position against No. 109 Danielle Spielmann. Lee took the first set, tallying a 6-4 win, but was unable to finish the match as the Crimson Tide took home a 4-0 win. Jenna Friedel saw action in the fourth position, facing Smith Hinton, and was also unable to finish the set, tallying 6-2, 6-5 scores.  

Lee and Annika Ringblom were down just a point, 4-3, before the Crimson Tide took the doubles point. The Crimson sent Oosterhout and Lexi Milunovich to compete against Routliffe and Maddie Rothoff in the first doubles slot, falling, 6-2. Irene Lu and Jenna Friedel faced Julia Valero and Hinton in the third slot, unable to overcome the pair, 6-2.

Harvard will face Florida State tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center.
