HANOVER, N.H. – Winning the doubles point put the Harvard women's tennis team (9-8, 1-0 Ivy) over the top as it opened Ivy League play with a 4-3 win over Dartmouth (7-9, 0-1 Ivy) on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Annika Ringblom and freshman Anna Li took first doubles, 6-4, while junior Isabel Jasper and freshman Neha Gupta edged out freshman Maddie Hwang and junior Allison Chuang, 7-5, in third doubles.
The singles portion of the afternoon ended up tied at three wins a piece. Sophomore Jenna Friedel knocked off Julia Schroeder in two sets, 6-4, 6-3, while classmate Lexi Milunovich pulled out the 6-3, 6-3 victory over Big Green sophomore Chuyang Guan in fifth singles. Despite dropping the first set of sixth singles, 6-4, to Hwang, sophomore Natasha Gonzalez battled back to take the final two sets, 6-4, 6-3 to seal the match for the Crimson.
