WEST POINT, N.Y.- The Harvard women's tennis team posted some great performances on the third and final day of competition at the ITA Northeast Regional. As a result of Sunday's action, the Crimson will send two players to the ITA Northeast Super Regionals in first-year
Rachel Arbitman and sophomore
Iveta Daujotaite.
Harvard opened the day with four participants in the final 16 of the tournament.
Arbitman punched her ticket with a swift straight-set victory over Michelle Kleynerman of Boston University, 6-4, 6-4.
Daujotaite followed suit by defeating Chidimma Okpara of Dartmouth, also in straight-set fashion, 6-4, 7-5.
First-year
Holly Fischer fell in a hard-fought battle against Columbia's Sasha Wood, pushing the contest to three sets before coming up short, 2-6, 6-4, (10-6).
First-year
Angel You forced a tiebreak in the second set but could not hold on as she bowed out to Caroline Dunleavy of Yale, 1-6, 6-7(3).
In the doubles draw, the duo of
Rachel Lim and
Angel You went toe-to-toe with Danielle Hack and Thomonpan Jonglertrakul of Massachusetts before ultimately falling, 8-6.
