What's your concentration and why did you choose it?
Environmental Science and Public Policy. Besides my enjoyment for this subject, I believe it is extremely important to learn more about climate change and environmental solutions. I also like that this concentration encompasses a range of subjects such as maths, sciences, economics, politics, and history.
What classes are you taking this semester and over your four years, what have been some of your favorite courses?
This semester I am taking classes mainly on the ethics of climate change and natural climate solutions. During my time at Harvard I have taken a variety of classes, although my favorite has to be my senior tutorial. In this class I pursued personal interests and produced my own research project on using sport to progress sustainability in society.
What's it been like conducting this year remotely?
It has been a challenge. As an international student in the UK I have had to adjust my schedule to fit into the time zone difference. I also learned that zoom fatigue is a real thing. The situation has been far from ideal and I miss the normality we all enjoyed before coronavirus. The only thing that I can control about the pandemic is my response to it and I am confident that despite the difficulties I still continue to give 100% in effort.
How has being a member of the cross country/track & field team impacted your Harvard experience or personal development?
My experience enabled me to meet many incredible student-athletes and learn from a diverse array of individuals. I am fortunate to be part of a team that is highly ambitious and supportive of one another. I miss training, competing, and chilling with my teammates, although I am sure that our paths will cross again in the near future.
Do you have a set plan for post-grad or still weighing options? Any career path you're leaning towards or dream job you're working toward?
Finding a graduate job is tough in normal circumstances, but it is even more difficult this year due to the pandemic. I am currently pursuing my interest in the sport and sustainability industries. Regardless of where my career path leads to I will continue my athletic journey with aspirations to become an Olympian one day.
What's a takeaway from your Harvard experience that will last beyond your time in Cambridge?
Celebrate your strengths, own your weaknesses, do what you enjoy, and embrace positivity. Go Crimson.
