Cassidy Bargell tallied three tries as Harvard women's rugby beat LIU by a score of 109-5 at Mignone Field.
Headland got the Crimson out to an early 8-0 lead with a try and penalty kick within the first seven minutes. Senior
Emma Kearney scored two tries in as many minutes to give Harvard a 25-0 lead midway through the first half. First-year
Kiani Akina and sophomore
Nafanua Malietoa Fitisemanu tallied first half tries after getting on the scoresheet last weekend as well. Two more tries for Bargell, and one each for first-years
Jara Emtage-Cave and
PK Vincze saw the Crimson head into halftime with a 68-0 lead.
Junior
Alex Pipkin and Akina got the second half rolling for Harvard with their second tries of the game to go up 80-0. Senior
Sabrina Kim and sophomore
Anjalika Ybema linked up well in the second half, with Kim scoring her first two tries of the season and Ybema also tallying her first. First-year
Reese Morgan concluded the Harvard scoring with a try, bringing the total to 17 on the day for the Crimson.
"Following our National Championship win, we've really started this season being really clinical, we're watching film everyday" said senior
Sabrina Kim following the victory. "I feel like we have incredible depth and can only go up from here."
