CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team opened its spring home schedule on Saturday by defeating Quinnipiac, 7-0, at the Murr Center Tennis Courts. With the victory, the Crimson evened its record to 1-1, while the Bobcats dropped to 0-1.
Harvard started the afternoon on a high note by sweeping all three doubles matches by 6-3 margins to take a 1-0 lead.
In singles, the Crimson worked quickly with
Angel You dismissing Jean-Na Koo at the fifth position, 6-0, 6-1. Soon after,
Rachel Lim found herself walking off the court after earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4, bringing Harvard to within one point of clinching the match.
With four other matches in progress, team co-captain
Rachel Eason provided the Crimson's fourth and deciding point, defeating Brittney Wilbur at the sixth spot, 6-1, 6-0. Harvard ended up winning the remaining three singles matches thanks to
Mihaela Marculescu (No. 3),
Maxi Duncan (No. 1) and
Sophia Ho (No. 2).
