NORFOLK, Va. – The Harvard women's tennis team (5-5) fell to No. 24 Old Dominion (8-5) by a score of 7-0, on Sunday, March 6, in Norfolk, Va.
The Crimson was up against three Monarchs who own an ITA top-125 singles ranking, as well as the fifth-ranked doubles pairing in Yuliia Starodubtseva and Tatsiana Sasnouskaya.
Harvard lost the doubles point, but
Demi Snyder and
Sany Gawande held a 4-2 lead over Old Dominion's Marina Alcaide and Alesya Yakubovich before the match was abandoned.
The Crimson duo of
Angel You and
Iveta Daujotaite were bested by the No. 5-ranked duo, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot, suffering their first defeat of the spring.
In the singles competitions,
Rachel Lim battled at No. 4, but fell in a three-setter, which was decided in a tiebreaker. Lim won the first set, 7-6, before dropping the second set, 6-4, and ultimately falling 12-10 in the tiebreak to Sofia Johnson.
Up Next
The Crimson will travel to Orlando, Fla., for four matches against East Tennessee, Navy, No. 32 Central Florida and No. 60 Brigham Young, from March 15-19.
