CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team (12-7, 3-0 Ivy League) earned its sixth consecutive win this afternoon over Cornell at Beren Tennis Center in Cambridge, Mass.
The Crimson earned the doubles point and three of five singles matches to provide the 4-2 result over the Big Red (6-9, 2-1 Ivy League).
The duo of
Maxi Duncan and
Holly Fischer picked up their second win of the weekend at the No. 1 position with a quick 6-0 victory over Lauren Stein and Jenny Wong of Cornell.
Meanwhile,
Rachel Lim and
Mihaela Marculescu fought to a 6-2 win over Valerie Ho and Ashley Huang at the No. 2 spot to clinch the doubles point for the Crimson.
Moving on to singles,
Sany Gawande got the first point for Harvard with a straight-set, 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Wong at the sixth position.
With the match tied at 2-2,
Maxi Duncan took care of Katherine Nguyen, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 spot to put the Crimson within a point of the win.
Rachel Arbitman finished the job for Harvard and clinched the match at the No. 4 slot by outlasting Valerie Ho in a tiebreak in the first set before blanking her in the second for a final score of 7-6(7-1), 6-0.
