CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team (11-7, 2-0 Ivy League) bested No. 56 Columbia, 4-1, today at the Murr Center Indoor Courts in Cambridge, Mass.
The Crimson started the day by earning the doubles point thanks to a 6-4 win at the No. 1 spot from the duo of
Maxi Duncan and
Holly Fischer. Harvard clinched the point after
Angel You and
Iveta Daujotaite fought to a 7-5 win at the No. 3 spot.
Moving on to singles action, You, a Crimson first-year, took care of Rachele Rimondini of Columbia at the No. 6 spot in sweeping fashion, 6-0, 6-0.
Sany Gawande followed with another swift victory at the No. 5 spot, 6-2, 6-2, over Clarine Lerby of the Lions to give Harvard a 3-0 edge.
After dropping a point at No. 4, Fischer, another first-year, earned a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 decision to secure the fifth consecutive win for the Crimson.

- The win marks the second time this season that the Crimson has rattled off five consecutive wins.
- This is Harvard's fifth straight season starting 2-0 in the Ivy League.
