BATON ROUGE, LA – The Harvard Crimson (3-1) battled a tough Louisiana State University (3-0) team on Friday, January 27, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for their first match on the road of the spring season. The match was neck and neck until the very end, as the Crimson narrowly fell 5-2 to the Tigers.
Starting in doubles, the Crimson were defeated in their first two matches, giving the doubles point to the Tigers. The doubles match featuring Harvard's
Sophia Ho and
Maxi Duncan against LSU's No.7 ranked duo in the country, Anastasiya Komar and Nikita Vishwase, would end in a 4-4 draw.
In singles, first-year
Charlotte Owensby defeated the No.7 ranked singles player in the country, Kylie Collins, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 in the number one position.
Iveta Daujotaite would also defeat her opponent in singles, Mia Rabinowitz, 6-7(5), 6-0 [10-4].
