th minute, senior goalkeeper
Anna Karpenko tallied a shutout, and Harvard University women's soccer clinched a spot in the 2023 Ivy League Tournament behind a 1-0 win over the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon at Jordan Field.
Playing in its final home game of the regular season, the Crimson (9-3-2, 4-1-1) held a 19-1 advantage in shots and turned that edge into Hasbo's goal in the final quarter hour to top the visiting Quakers (5-7-3, 0-4-2).
Hasbo's fifth goal of the season helped the Crimson earn a spot in the inaugural Ivy League Tournament which will open with semifinal play on Friday, Nov. 3 at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. The championship match will take place on Sunday, Nov. 5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harvard controlled play in the first half, holding a 9-0 advantage in shots. Shots from Hannah Bebar, Gabby DelPico, Audrey Francois, and Josefine Hasbo all threatened the Quakers' defense.
- The Crimson continued to pressure Penn in the second half as a shot from Bebar went just wide in the 58th minute, and Hasbo generated chances in the 67th and 71st minutes.
- Hasbo broke through in the 77th minute. After Francois won the ball in the Quakers' end, she played a central pass to Hasbo who turned and drove a shot on frame with her left foot that stood as the decisive tally.
- For the second half, the Crimson remained in control, holding a 10-1 edge in shots and 5-0 lead in shots on goal.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Josefine Hasbo scored her fifth goal of the season and leads the Crimson with 16 points on the year. She has notched points in nine of her 12 games played this season. She netted her 13th career goal.
- Hasbo led the match in shots (six) and shots on goal (three).
- Sophomore Audrey Francois posted her first assist of the season.
- Senior goalkeeper Anna Karpenko tallied her sixth shutout of the season. She has registered nine career clean sheets.
- Six of the Crimson's field players – Smith Hunter, Jade Rose, August Hunter, Josefine Hasbo, Taylor Fasnacht, and Hannah Bebar – played the full 90 minutes.
- For the match, Harvard led in shots (19-1), shots on goal (6-0), and corner kicks (7-3).
