BETHLEHEM, PA. – Harvard wrestling kicked-off its 2023-24 season with five top-three finishes against strong opposition at the Journeymen Classic in Bethlehem, Pa. Junior Diego Sotelo and first-year Jameson Garcia were the top performers at the Journeymen Classic, posting second place finishes.
 
Sotelo earned second place in pool A of the 125-pound division with wins against Lehigh and UPenn, falling to Cornell and FloWrestling's No. 7 125-pound wrestler Brett Ungar in the first-place match.
 
In Garcia's Crimson debut, the Bartlett, Ill. Native earned wins against Army and Penn State in pool B of the 133-pound weight class. Garcia fell to Arizona State via a 3-2 decision in the first-place showdown.
 
Jack Crook took third place in pool A of the 149-pound division, as first-year Coleman Nogle and junior Alex Whitworth also placed third in their respective weight classes.
 
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:

• Sotelo placed second in pool A of the 125-pound division.
• Garcia placed second in pool B of the 133-pound weight class.
• Crook earned wins against Army and Bloomsburg in pool A of the 149-pound division on the way to third-place honors.
• Nogle placed third in pool B of 133-pounds with two wins against Army, one via decision and one by fall.
• Whitworth took third place in pool B of the 184-pound division.
• First-year Max Agresti placed fourth in pool A of 197-pounds, earning his first career win against Purdue.
• Five first-year Crimson wrestlers made their collegiate debuts at the Journeymen Classic.
• Agresti, Garcia, Nogle, Matthew Walsh, and Jaden Pepe all donned the Harvard H for the first time on Sunday.

The Crimson return to Pennsylvania next week, this time heading further south to Philadelphia, PA. for the Keystone Classic at the Palestra. Competition at the City of Brotherly Love begins at 8:00 a.m. and is streaming live on FloWrestling.
