PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Harvard women's soccer claimed the first-ever Ivy League Tournament Championship this afternoon after it defeated the Columbia Lions in convincing fashion, 3-0.
Josefine Hasbo's hat-trick powered the Crimson to the result that gave the team an automatic bid into the 2023 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The second-seeded Crimson returned to Providence on Sunday to compete against the fourth-seeded Columbia Lions for the inaugural Ivy League Tournament Championship. Harvard took care of business with a 4-2 win over Princeton in the semifinals and Columbia knocked out the top-seeded Brown Bears to advance to the championship.
- The Lions came out of the first touch running, creating two early chances, both of which were cleaned up by the defense.
- Harvard's offense went to work after the 15-minute mark, registering the first shot on goal - courtesy of Hannah Bebar – along with a number of close chances before the ensuing 15-minute stretch.
- Jade Rose, Ólöf Kristinsdótti and Gabby DelPico all had quality looks on net stopped by Columbia's backline.
- The Crimson took control of the pace of play in the final ten-plus minutes of the first half but couldn't find the twine as the teams went into the break locked in a scoreless tie.
- Josefine Hasbo had the Crimson buzzing out of the break, connecting with Hannah Bebar on a great give and go play before unleashing a rocket shot from distance, finding the back of the net in the 53rd minute of play.
- Just eight minutes later Hasbo struck again, punching a Smith Hunter cross into the net to put Harvard up 2-0. Hunter and Gabby DelPico would get credit for the assists on Hasbo's second goal of the afternoon.
- Hasbo completed her hat-trick in the 71st minute when a beautiful bending shot beat the Columbia keeper and curled into the far post. It was Hasbo's second career hat-trick and first three-goal game for a Crimson player this season.
- The Crimson defense did the rest of the work, holding off the Columbia attack for the remaining twenty minutes of play to hold on to the 3-0 advantage.
- Harvard women's soccer was crowned the inaugural Ivy League Tournament Champion after defeating the Lions, 3-0. Â
