CAMBRDIGE, Mass. – No. 60 Harvard women's tennis (6-5) defeats Long Beach State University (2-3) 5-1 on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Murr Tennis Courts.
Beginning in doubles, the Crimson got off to a hot start. In the one spot, Harvard's duo of
Rachel Arbitman and
Iveta Daujotaite defeated their LBSU opponents Peppi Ramstedt and Rhona Cook, 6-1. In the two spot, Harvard's
Sophia Ho and
Maxi Duncan defeated LBSU's Sarah Medik and Hana Becirovic Novak, 6-2. These two victories secured a doubles victory from the Crimson, giving them a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
The Crimson's momentum carried over into singles. Playing her first match of the season in the one spot,
Maxi Duncan defeated LBSU's Sarah Medik 6-2, 6-4. Wins by
Charlotte Owensby and
Angel You gave Harvard enough points to secure victory.
Iveta Daujotaite also earned a win to give Harvard their fifth point.
