CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - No. 2 Harvard women's rugby faced off against No. 1 Dartmouth in a thrilling back-and-forth battle on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Crimson fell to the Big Green, 19-26, as Dartmouth scored in the final minute to clinch the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was a defensive struggle for the Crimson, who were unable to put any points on the board while holding Dartmouth to just five points. Harvard managed to hold Dartmouth up in the try zone, preventing further scoring.
- In the second half, senior co-captain
Reese Morgan made a significant break, passing the ball to
Josephine Mignone, who then found
Chloe Headland. Headland executed a spectacular, bobbling catch before charging into the try zone.
- Mignone later scored a try with an assist from
Tiahna Padilla, tying the game at 12-12 late in the second half.
- Dartmouth responded swiftly with another try to regain the lead. The Crimson found themselves in a scoring position again shortly after, with sophomore
Neasa McLaughlin reaching out for a try.
- In a dramatic finish, Dartmouth scored in the final minute, sealing their win over the Crimson, 26-19.
