CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2024 Ivy League Fencing Championships await Harvard fencing this weekend. The Crimson look to earn some hardware at the marquee tournament, as Columbia hosts the 2024 Ivy League Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb. 11.
WHAT TO KNOW:
- The men's team is the reigning Ivy League Champions, looking to defend its title this weekend.
- At the 2023 Ivy League Fencing Championships, the women's team finished in fourth in Ithaca, N.Y.
- Heading into the Ivy League Fencing Championships, the men's team holds a 11-6 record while the women bring a 14-3 mark to New York.
- The Crimson last took the strip on Friday, Jan. 26 and Sunday, Jan. 28, taking on Duke and New York University in a pair of dual meets.
- The women swept Duke and NYU, defeating the Blue Devils, 16-11, and cruising to a 23-4 win against the Violets.
- The men earned a 16-11 win against Duke and came up short in a 14-13 loss against NYU.
- The men are led by defending NCAA Men's Epee champion Jonas Hansen. The senior from Cambridge, Mass. is 28-12 this season, the most wins by a Harvard male fencer.
- The women will be without two key contributors, as first-year foil fencer Jessica Zi Jia Guo and defending NCAA Women's Foil champion Lauren Scruggs will both be in Turin, Italy for the Senior Women's Foil Grand Prix.
