LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Harvard women's tennis completed a 3-0 week out west and won its ninth straight match by defeating Loyola Marymount this afternoon, 4-1.
How it Happened
Despite
Holly Fischer and
Stephanie Yakoff winning their eighth match of dual competition as a duo, the Crimson fell in the doubles point by dropping battles at the No. 2 and 3 positions.
The doubles point would be the only loss that the Crimson would take all day as the squad went to work in singles action.
Maxi Duncan got Harvard on the board first by winning with relative ease, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot.
Charlotte Owensby quickly followed behind by downing Anna Paradisi (LMU) at the No. 3 position. After winning a close 7-5 opening set, the sophomore cruised to a 6-2 second set to claim her second victory of the California trip.
Natalie Block brought the Crimson within a win of clinching the team victory by grabbing a straight set, 6-0, 7-5, win at the No. 6 position. With the win, the first-year improved to 3-0 in dual competition.
Holly Fischer ultimately closed out the Crimson victory and completed a personal 3-0 weekend. By dropping Ste Rogozinska-Dzik (LMU), 7-5, 6-3, the junior improved to 13-3 in singles action this season.
