PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Harvard women's golf earned its second tournament win of the season this afternoon at the Lady Bison Classic at bay Point Golf Club, using back-to-back strong rounds to claim the top spot. The Crimson finished 28-over-par as a team to win the tournament by two strokes. Sophomore
Bridget Ma shot a third-round 67 (-5) to power the effort and finish second place, individually.
Isabella Gomez tied for third after finishing four-over par and
Iris Wang came in tied for ninth with a 54-hole score of eight-over-par.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crimson made its way down to Florida to compete in the Lady Bison Classic at the Bay Point Golf Club in Panama City Beach. This was the program's first-ever appearance in the tournament hosted by Lipscomb University.
- Harvard women's golf opened up the tournament with a team score of 305, good enough for fourth place in the field after 18 holes. A balanced effort from the team, including Bridget Ma's low score of 74, put the Crimson just seven strokes off the lead heading into second round on Saturday.
- The Crimson was on fire in the second round, posting a tournament low score of 293. Isabella Gomez's two-under round of 70 helped the Crimson climb up the leader board to move into second-place heading into the final round on Sunday. Meiyi Yan and Charissa Shang both posted two-over par rounds on Saturday to help put the Crimson in a great position heading into the final round.
- The final day of action was all Crimson, as Harvard posted another sub-300 round of 294 to clinch the team championship at Bay Point. Bridget Ma continued her strong play in the final round, carding a five-under 67. It was the lowest round for any golfer throughout the weekend and was the difference to help Harvard finish two strokes ahead of Abilene Christian.
- The victory was the Crimson's second first-place finish of the 2023-24 season.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- Bridget Ma was on a roll down in Florida this weekend, posting rounds of 74, 75 and 67 (E) to finish in second place individually. Ma's five-under-par round of 67 in the final round was the lowest of any golfer in the field. The sophomore featured seven birdies, ten pars and just one double bogey.
- Isabella Gomez also finished in the top-three, posting rounds of 77, 70 and 73 (+2) to secure her third top-five finish of the season. Gomez used four birdies in her second round to card a 70 and rise up the leader board.
- Iris Wang, playing as an individual in the tournament, finished tied for ninth place after carding rounds of 80, 70 and 74. Wang finished the tournament just eight-over-par. Her second round 70 was powered by three birdies and an eagle.
- Wang was one of only three players in the field to card a birdie.
- Bridget Ma led the field with 10 birdies on the weekend.
- Ma also posted the lowest scoring average on par fours with a 3.97 and the second lowest scoring average on par threes with a 2.92.
- As a team, Harvard combined for the lowest scoring average on par fours at 4.27.

Harvard will have one final tune up before the 2024 Ivy League Championships in two weeks when it travels to Ohio to compete at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. The 54-hole tournament hosted by Bowling Green University at the Stone Ridge Golf Club will take place on April 6-7.
