CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Stephanie Yakoff completed her undefeated tournament at the ITA New England Regional this afternoon, defeating the top seed, Serafima Shastova (Syracuse).
The junior looked strong throughout, defeating the No. 80 nationally ranked singles player in two sets, 6-3, 6-4.
In five days of competition, Yakoff recorded six straight wins, defeating four seeded opponents and not dropping a set en route to the title.
Additionally, with her win yesterday, Yakoff clinched a spot in the NCAA Individual Championships for the first time in her singles career. It will be the junior's second time at the championships having competed in the doubles draw last season with teammate
Kavya Karra. Yakoff is the first singles player at Harvard to reach the tournament in nearly 15 years.
