PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Two singles players and a duo advanced to day three of the Ivy League Qualifier Tournament this afternoon in Philadelphia, Pa.
Masato Perera and
Rohan Murali earned a spot in the semifinals of the doubles draw following a gritty victory over Michael Zheng and Tristan Lee (Columbia). The Crimson duo eventually won 8-6 in tiebreakers to steal the match.
In singles this afternoon,
Nathan Blokhin and Murali both advanced to the quarterfinals to force a rematch of their battle at the ITA New England Regionals.
Blokhin continued his hot start to his first collegiate season, defeating Vojtech Vales (Penn) in straight sets, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
Murali looked dominant against Felipe Pinzon (Cornell), posting a pair of 6-3 decisions to cruise into the next round.
All three singles players advanced on day one as Perera, Blokhin, and Murali each picked up first round wins. Blokhin and Murali each won their matches in straight sets, dropping just two games.
Action will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET in Philadelphia tomorrow in the singles draw with Blokhin and Murali battling for a spot in the semifinals.
