CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Charlotte Owensby and
Claire Shao of Harvard women's tennis completed their run at the Ivy League Qualifier Tournament with a victory in the doubles final.
The Crimson duo battled through the opening set, eventually beating Esha Velaga and Jo-Leen Saw (Penn) in tiebreakers, 9-7. Owensby and Shao then cruised through the second set, 6-2, to punch their ticket to the ITA Conference Masters. The NCAA qualifying tournament will be held in San Diego, California, in two weekends beginning on Thursday, November 6.
To kick off the day, Owensby recorded another victory, advancing to the singles final with a victory over the top-seeded player. The senior defeated Malak El Allami (Columbia) in convincing fashion, 6-2, 6-4.
The Florida native will look to punch a second ticket to the Conference Masters tournament as she competes in the championship match tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. ET.
