CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's tennis began play at the Harvard Fall Classic this afternoon, registering five total wins in its first home competition of the season.
Charlotte Owensby and
Kate Kim recorded the first win of the day in doubles, defeating Madison Liu and Reha Rai (BU), 6-4.
Natasha Rajaram and
Kavya Karra added another doubles victory, battling to a 7-5 victory over Emily Zhao and Lauren Kettlewell (BU), 7-5.
Moving into singles, Karra added her second win of the day with a dominant victory over Blanka DeMicheli (BU). The junior who led the Crimson in singles victories last year picked up her first win of the season in dominant fashion with a pair of 6-1 decisions.
Kim also was victorious in individual action, defeating Ellie Gyuro (BU) in a third set tiebreaker. After the players split the first two sets, each by a 6-4 score, the Harvard junior secured the third set 10-4 to record her first win of the young season.
Claire Shao added the final victory of the day, putting up a dominant display in her first collegiate match. The Harvard first-year downed Rhea Rai (BU) in a convincing 6-0, 6-2 fashion.
