CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 18 men's water polo is set to begin the NWPC playoffs on Saturday after receiving a first round bye. Set to play the winner of Brown and LIU on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. the Crimson will look to advance the NWPC Championship game for the second time and three seasons. All games this weekend will be streamed on ESPN+.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Harvard finished the regular season as co-champions with Princeton after wrapping up the season with a 19-9 record.
- Ending up as the two seed, the Crimson will play the winner of Brown and LIU in its first round matchup.
- If Brown were to win on Friday it would set up a rematch up from last season's semifinal matchup.
- Harvard lost to Brown last season by a score of 11-9 but bounced back to win the third place game 20-9 over Iona.
- Harvard swept the season series between both LIU and Brown.
- The only ranked teams in the conference tournament are No. 18 Harvard, No. 19 Brown and No. 14 Princeton.
- Seven different Crimson earned NWPC All-Conference Honors on Thursday.
- Coach Minnis was named NWPC Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons.
- Jack Burhgardt became just the fourth Crimson to win NWPC Player of the Year.
- Burghardt and Lukas Peabody landed on the NWPC First-Team while Dean Strauser and Tyler Hogan earned second team honors.
