CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Harvard women's squash team is coming back from Virginia with a win after dropping the No. 6 Virginia Cavaliers, 7-2. The Crimson (2-0, 1-0 Ivy) got wins from the top five positions on the ladder to lift the team to a win over the No. 6 team in the nation.
How it Happened
The Crimson made the trip down South to Virginia this afternoon to battle the Virginia Cavaliers in a battle of top 10 teams in the CSA.
The Crimson had a strong showing from the top of ladder in the match, getting wins at each of the first three positions to help lift the team to victory.
Caroline Fouts split the first two games in her match at ones, eventually closing out her win with back-to-back wins in the third and fourth games to take a 3-1 win.
Saran Nghiem and
Lucie Stefanoni both swept their matches at twos and threes, respectively, to remain unbeaten on the season.
In the middle of the order,
Ona Blasco Puig got her win at fours with a 3-0 sweep.
Ocean Ma also collected another win at fives, taking a 3-1 win by winning three straight games after falling in the first game of her match.
Dixon Hill and
Molly Stoltz closed out the win for the Crimson with wins at eights and nines, respectively, with 3-1 victories. The win gives Harvard a 2-0 record heading into Winter break.
