CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The top-ranked Harvard women's squash team continued to roll this afternoon, ending its regular season match schedule with a 9-0 sweep over the No. 10 Drexel Dragons. The Crimson (11-1, 6-0 Ivy) dropped only a single game in the contest that gave the program its 11th win of the campaign and some momentum heading into the CSA Team National Championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Harvard women's squash team returned to its home courts this afternoon to play host to the No. 10 Drexel Dragons. The Crimson celebrated its four-member senior class of
Brecon Welch,
Habiba Eldafrawy,
Amira Singh and
Emma Carney in a ceremony before the match.
Senior captain, Habiba Eldafrway, led the way with a victory a three, defeatin her opponent, 3-0.
Sarita Popat followed with a win at nine and
Molly Stoltz earned a 3-0 win at the five spot on the ladder to give the Crimson a quick 3-0 lead.
Harvard would clinch the match in the second wave of matches that included wins from
Lucie Stefanoni at two (3-0),
Amira Singh at six (3-1) and
Brecon Welch at seven (3-0). Welch outscored her opponent, 33-8 on her way to the victory.
In the final stretch of matches,
Saran Nghiem continued her strong performance at one, logging a 3-0 victory while outscoring her opponent, 33-12.
Ocean Ma also shut out her opposition at four in a sweeping 3-0 win.
Emma Carney sealed the sweep for the Crimson by recording a 3-0 win at the eight matchup.
