Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Dartmouth in Opening Round of ECAC Championships

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Harvard women's tennis (3-3) recorded its third straight victory as it swept Dartmouth (4-2) to open play at the ECAC Championships.

To begin the match, the Crimson collected wins at the No. 2 and 3 doubles spots to secure a 1-0 lead.  Natalie Block and Maxi Duncan registered their third win of the young season as it grabbed the first win of the match at court three.  Kavya Karra and Stephanie Yakoff followed with a dominant 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point.

Harvard kept its strong play up as the match carried into singles beginning with Maxi Duncan dropping Lauren Han (Dartmouth) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.  Stephanie Yakoff followed closely behind with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at court three to pull Harvard within a point of clinching the match.

Holly Fischer provided the decisive victory, beating Peyton Capuano (Dartmouth) at the top court.  After taking the first set, Fischer battled through a 7-5 second set to solidify the match for the Crimson.

With the victory, the Crimson advance to the ECAC Championship semifinals where it will meet the Columbia Lions tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. ET.
