Wrestling Concludes 2025 NCAA Tournament

PHILADELPHIA, PAJimmy Harrington's 2025 NCAA Tournament run came to an end on Friday, March 21. Despite an impressive victory in his first consolation round match, Harrington was defeated in the next round, wrapping up his 2024-25 season with an NCAA appearance and his first-ever tournament win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Day 2

Match 1: In the second round of the consolation bracket, No. 29 Jimmy Harrington faced No. 14 Jude Swisher from Penn. Harrington struck early, securing a 3-0 lead with a takedown. However, Swisher quickly regained control, dominating much of the first period and leading to a nine-point swing. Harrington earned a point for an escape, but ultimately fell by major decision, 19-4, ending his tournament run.

Day 1

Match 1 (Round 1): Harrington took on No. 4 Rafael Hipolito from Virginia Tech in his opening match. Harrington fought hard, earning three escape points, but was unable to overcome the top-ranked Hipolito, ultimately losing 10-3 by decision.

Match 2 (Consolation Round 1): Harrington bounced back in his second match, facing No. 13 Jared Hill from Wyoming. The first two periods were tightly contested, with Harrington trailing 3-1 heading into the final period. In the third, Harrington showed his resilience, overpowering Hill and securing an impressive pin for the win. This victory marked Harrington's first-ever NCAA Tournament win and his seventh fall of the season.
