Sailing’s Callahan Announced as 2025 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year Finalist

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing senior Justin Callahan has been announced by US Sailing as one of three finalists for the 2025 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year Award. The honor recognizes the most outstanding performances by American sailors over the past year.

Joining Callahan on the Yachtsman finalist list are Taylor Canfield and Paul Cayard. Alli Bell, Laura Grondin and Pearl Lattanzi, meanwhile, are finalists for the Yachtswoman of the Year honor.

Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year winners are selected through a vote of past Rolex Award recipients and leading members of the sailing media.

The award recipients will be announced at New York Yacht Club's Champions Dinner on Feb. 12, 2026, in New York City, and will be co-hosted by New York Yacht Club and US Sailing.

Established in 1961 by US Sailing and sponsored by Rolex, the Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year Awards are widely regarded as the highest individual honors in American sailing. Over the decades, the awards have recognized many of the sport's most accomplished figures, including Olympians, world champions, and record-setting sailors.

While competing for Harvard in 2025, Callahan was named the recipient of the Everett Morris Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the College Sailor of the Year. The then-junior was also an ICSA Open Skipper All-American for the third straight season and led the Crimson to its second ICSA Open Team Race National Championship in the last three years. This past fall, meanwhile, Callahan helped Harvard win the ICSA Match Race National Championship.

Preparations for the upcoming spring season are underway, with Callahan and his Crimson teammates opening competition Feb. 28, at the Liam O'Keefe Trophy Team Race (Cranston, R.I.) and the Harvard Women's Team Race (Charles River).
