Water Polo Back to West Coast for Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament

Crimson take on Pacific, UC Davis and St. Mary's in California.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The No. 18 Harvard men's water polo team heads west to the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament in Santa Clara and San Jose, Calif. this weekend. The Crimson open the weekend against No. 13 Pacific on Friday afternoon. The weekend continues against No. 10 UC Davis on Saturday and wraps up Sunday against St. Mary's.

About the Crimson
Harvard has won seven consecutive games to enter the weekend at 10-10 on the season. The Crimson's win streak started with its first four NWPC league wins. Senior Jack Burghardt leads the team in scoring with 54 goals, while first-year Clay Carrington is second at 48 to go with 25 assists. Sophomore Connor Kim has dished out a team-leading 30 assists and is fourth with 34 goals with junior Dean Strauser ahead in goals at 37 and one back in assists at 29. After the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, Harvard's remaining five games are all NWPC match-ups heading into the postseason. The Crimson have previously played Pacific, a 12-11 loss at home, and UC Davis, a 17-13 loss on the road, earlier this season.

2025 Julian Fraser Recap
The Crimson went 2-2 at last year's Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament. Harvard lost to No. 7 Pacfic, 13-12, and defeated No. 9 Pepperdine, 17-16 in its first two matches. The Crimson then picked up a 19-16 win over Air Force before falling to No. 17 Santa Clara, 16-11. In the finale, Harvard erased a six-goal deficit to tie the game at 10-10 before the Broncos finished the game on a 6-1 run.

Player of the Week
Burghardt, the NWPC Player of the Week, scored a team-leading 12 goals to go with three assists in a perfect 3-0 weekend for the Crimson at the Harvard Invitational. After being held scoreless in the first half of a top-20 match-up with Navy, Burghardt dominated the third quarter with four goals and finished the game with six. He followed that performance with five goals in a wire-to-wire win over UC Merced and finished the weekend with a goal and two assists in a win over Pomona-Pitzer.
