CLEVELAND, Ohio – Harvard University wrestling senior
Jimmy Harrington wrapped up his time at the 2026 NCAA Championships on Friday at Rocket Arena, falling in the consolation second round after capturing a win in the first round on Thursday in the tournament's first day.
Taking part in NCAAs for the second straight season, Harrington earned an upset, overtime win in the first round at 157 pounds on Thursday to capture a spot in the second day of the tournament on Friday.
Competing at the home of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, the No. 20 seeded Harrington earned a 4-1 win in sudden victory over No. 13 Derek Raike of Ohio. In his victory in the first round, Harrington opened the bout's scoring with an escape less than 10 seconds into the second period. After Raike notched an escape to start the third frame, the bout went to overtime tied at 1-1. In sudden victory, Harrington registered a takedown at the 1:24 mark to earn a win at NCAAs for the second straight season.
Closing out his time at NCAAs, Harrington concluded his time at the tournament with a fall in 2:42 to No. 4 seed Kaleb Larkin of Arizona State in the second round on Thursday and with a fall in 1:45 to No. 19 seed Kai Owen of Columbia in 1:45 in the consolation second round on Friday.
For the season, Harrington – an Honorable Mention All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy selection – posted a 22-10 record, leading the Crimson in wins (22), dual wins (nine), Ivy dual wins (four), and major decisions (six).
