Saran Nghiem Named 2026 CSA Betty Richey Award Winner

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Harvard Squash is thrilled to announce that senior captain, Saran Nghiem, has been awarded the 2026 College Squash Association (CSA) Betty Richey Award. The top honor for a Women's college squash athlete, the Betty Richey award is given annually to a senior student-athlete that best exemplifies the ideals of Squash. Nghiem becomes the eighth Harvard student-athlete to win this honor.

Throughout her four year tenure at Harvard, Nghiem has produced one of the most consistent careers in Harvard Women's Squash history, earning consideration for one of the great players in program history. Splitting her time across the top three spots of the ladder, the Crimson Captain posted a 40-9 record in her career, posting 10-+ wins in each position.

While competing for the Crimson, the Manchester product has received a number of honors, including All-Ivy team selections in each of her four years, with three of those years landing on the first team. Additionally, Nghiem achieved All-America First Team status in her first three seasons and was named a CSA scholar-athlete in 2025.

One of her most notable achievements came at the 2024 CSA Individual National Championships, where she captured the Ramsay Cup, and earned the title of Individual National Champion. During her run through the draw, Nghiem defeated two-time National Champion Zeina Zein of Princeton in the Semifinals, before defeating her teammate, Marina Stefanoni '24, in the Championship Match. Nghiem rallied from down 0-2 in the Championship match to win 3-2 and earn the title in a thrilling Ramsay Cup Final.

The co-captain has cemented her legacy in Crimson Squash History becoming the eighth Crimson player to take home the Betty Richey Award. With Nghiem's honor,  it marks the fourth time a Harvard student-athlete has captured the award in the 2020s, joining Hana Moataz (2022), Georgina Kennedy (2020), and Marina Stefanoni (2024).
