ITHACA, N.Y. – Harvard men's tennis (13-12, 3-3 Ivy) fell, 4-2, in a battle with No. 31 Cornell this afternoon in Ithaca.
The Crimson and the Big Red split doubles matches on the top two courts to begin the match.
Rohan Murali and
Kolos Kincses provided the victory for the Crimson with a 6-3 result over Rodrigo Fernandes and Eric Verdes (Cornell) on the top court. Cornell captured the doubles point, however, with wins on courts two and three.
Harvard went to work in singles, winning five of six first sets. Despite the Crimson battling, Cornell pushed further ahead, winning on court four.
Nathan Blokhin got Harvard on the board on court three, defeating Petar Teodorovic (Cornell) in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 6-2).
Mitchell Lee then tied the match with a straight set win on court six. The sophomore pulled out a first set victory in a tiebreaker (7-6 (6)) and then won the second set 6-4 to defeat Aman Sharma.
The Big Red went on to pull out three-set wins on the top two singles courts to seal the match.
