STORRS, Conn. – Women's lacrosse picked up another decisive win on Tuesday night after defeating UConn by a score of 19-12 on the road.
Harvard finished its non-conference slate with a win, led by Charlotte Hodgson, who tied the single-game program record with nine goals.
The Crimson got contributions up and down the lineup, including multi-goal efforts from Grace Mullahy, Kate Gilliam, and Cecelia Batchelder, and has now outscored its non-conference opponents by a combined 39–18 over its last two games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harvard struck early, with Charlotte Hodgson opening the scoring less than two minutes into the game off a feed from Callie Batchelder.
After UConn answered, Hodgson added another to give the Crimson a quick edge before the Huskies briefly surged ahead with back-to-back goals late in the first quarter. Kate Gilliam responded in the final minutes to even the score heading into the second quarter.
The second quarter belonged entirely to Harvard. Hodgson took over, scoring three times in a four-minute span, including two woman-up goals, to start a decisive run for the Crimson.
Tori Balser added a woman-up goal while Gilliam and Cecelia Batchelder extended the lead as the Crimson piled on eight goals in the frame. Harvard entered halftime firmly in control after a late goal from Natalie Marvin made it a commanding advantage.
Coming out of the break, Harvard maintained its momentum. Hannah Shiels opened the second-half scoring before Hodgson continued her standout day with another woman-up goal.
UConn attempted a late push in the fourth quarter, cutting into the deficit with a trio of goals in the final minutes, but Harvard had already done the damage.
Hodgson added her ninth of the game midway through the quarter, while Mullahy scored two quick goals to put the game out of reach and seal the 19–12 victory.
