Women's Lacrosse Faces Columbia in Final Game of the Season

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Women's lacrosse will play its final game of the season on Saturday, April 25th , when it travels to New York, New York, to face Columbia University in a conference matchup. 

First draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and will stream live on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Crimson defeated UConn in Storrs, Connecticut, on Tuesday, April 21st, scoring 19 goals to the Huskies' 12. 
  • Charlotte Hodgson tied the single-game program record with nine goals, including three goals in a four-minute span in the second quarter, which ended 11-5, Harvard. 
  • Grace Mullahy racked up three goals, and Cecelia Batchelder and Kate Gilliam added two goals each to the final score. 
LOOKING BACK
  • Last season, Harvard defeated Columbia 18-4 in the last game of the regular season. The Crimson lead its overall record against Columbia at 21-4.
  • Former Attacker Caroline Mullahy made history during the game, becoming the 15th player in NCAA history to have at least 150 assists. 
  • Charlotte Hodgson led The Crimson in goals, racking up 5 against the Lions. 
  • The Crimson scored eight goals in the first quarter, three of which were scored by Hodgson
KEY CONTRIBUTORS
  • Charlotte Hodgson leads the team with 44 goals this season after scoring nine more against UConn on Tuesday
  • She has recorded multiple goals in eight straight games and has scored in all but one game this year. Over her last five games, she has totaled 25 goals.
  • Callie Batchelder is second on the team in goals with 25 and is one of two Crimson players with over 50 points this season.
  • With 25 goals and 33 assists, she leads the team with 58 points and has recorded 25 points in her last five games.
LAST SEASON AT A GLANCE
  • Consistently ranked in the top 25 all season, Harvard opened the year with three wins in its first four games, defeating UAlbany at Jordan Field in the season opener before notching upsets over No. 15 Navy and No. 23 UConn in late February.
  • Caroline Mullahy was the story of the season, rewriting the Harvard, Ivy League, and NCAA record books. She tallied her 100th career assist in the season opener against UAlbany, broke the Harvard program record with her 112th assist against Bryant in late March, and then broke the Ivy League record in her next game against Brown.
  • Mullahy became just the seventh player in program history to record 200 career points after a six-point outing against Yale. She added two assists in the final game of the season to become just the 15th player in NCAA history to record 150+ career assists.
  • Mullahy was joined by Annabel Child as All-Ivy First Team selections, and both were named USA Lacrosse All-Americans after earning honorable mention recognition.
NEW TO THE GROUP
  • The Crimson welcomes eight new members to the program as part of the Class of 2029. Three members of the rookie class were named to the Inside Lacrosse Power 100 rankings, with Lexie Kochranked No. 40, while Emerson Midura and Cecelia Batchelder received honorable mention recognition.
LEADING THE GROUP
  • Despina Giannakopoulos and Kate Gilliam are set to lead the Crimson this season. Giannakopoulos started all 14 games last season and all 15 the year before, serving as a key member of the defensive unit throughout her tenure.
  • Gilliam returns for her senior season after appearing in 29 games during her Crimson career. The New York native scored three goals last season.
KEY RETURNERS
  • Offensive leaders Charlotte HodgsonCallie Batchelder, and Grace Mullahy all return for the Crimson. Batchelder recorded a career-high 45 points (26 goals, 18 assists) in her sophomore campaign. Hodgson added a career-best 40 points after leading the team with 30 goals. Playing alongside her sister, Grace Mullahy increased her point production by 33 points in her sophomore season.
