DURHAM, N.H. - 13 goals from Callie Batchelder, Charlotte Hodgson, and Grace Mullahy helped lead the Crimson to a 20-6 win over UNH on Tuesday evening in New Hampshire.
The usual suspects led the way for the Crimson, as Callie Batchelder recorded 11 points, Charlotte Hodgson picked up another eight, and Grace Mullahy added six. Despite a competitive first quarter, the Crimson held the Wildcats to just one goal in the second, third, and fourth quarters as they picked up their fourth non-conference win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crimson netted seven goals in a back-and-forth first quarter. The opening seven minutes of the game saw eight total goals from the Crimson and Wildcats.
Harvard opened the scoring after Charlotte Hodgson scored in close to give the Crimson a 1-0 lead. Each time Harvard would score to take the lead, the Wildcats responded with a goal of their own in the early going. Grace Mullahy, Callie Batchelder, and Hodgson scored the first four Crimson goals of the game before Harvard went on a three-goal run to build a late cushion in the first.
Charlotte Hodgson completed her first-quarter hat trick to make it 6-4 after two consecutive goals, before another goal from Tori Balser gave Harvard a three-goal lead. The Crimson took a 7-5 lead into the second quarter.
Callie Batchelder finished the first quarter with a goal and four assists, while Charlotte Hodgson picked up four points with three goals and an assist.
The Crimson opened the second quarter with two quick goals after Charlotte Hodgson was left all alone by the side of the net, before Cecilia Batchelder picked a corner from distance to put Harvard up by four. Hodgson's fifth goal of the game doubled up the Wildcats as Harvard led 10-5 at the half.
Kate Gilliam opened the third with her first of the game as the Crimson onslaught continued coming out of the break. Harvard would go on to score seven of the next eight goals of the game. Callie Batchelder, Cecilia Batchelder, Natalie Marvin, and Charlotte Hodgson all found the net in the third quarter and early in the fourth. Hodgson's goal to make it 17-6 was the 100th of her career after a quick stick from the side of the cage for her seventh of the game.
Lauren Park and Victoria Ottomanelli scored their first career goals in the fourth quarter as the Crimson capped off the big non-conference win.
GAME NOTES
- Batchelder set a new career high for points in a single game after recording 11 tonight, a record she originally broke two weeks ago against Holy Cross. The junior also set a new career high for single-game assists with eight.
- Batchelder has 31 points in her last five games.
- Charlotte Hodgson was the first Crimson player to net 100 career goals since Riley Campbell and Callie Hem in 2024.
- Hodgson also set a new single-game high with seven goals.
- Despina Giannakopoulos led the team with four ground balls. She was one of three Crimson players to record multiple ground balls in the game.
- Fourteen different Crimson players recorded a ground ball.
- Nine different Crimson players found the back of the net.
