CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Traci Green, the Sheila Kelly Palandjian Head Coach for Harvard Women's Tennis, announced today that Juan Sebastian Perez will join the program as an assistant coach prior to the 2026-27 season.
Perez joined the Crimson with experience developing nationally ranked junior players and guiding student-athletes through the college recruiting process. Perez spent the past year as a high-performance tennis and strength and conditioning coach at Montoya Tennis Training in Boston, Massachusetts. In the role, he coached elite nationally ranked junior players competing on the USTA circuit while designing and implementing the academy's strength and conditioning program. Student-athletes he coached landed at institutions such as University of Kentucky, Colby College, Wesleyan University, and Babson College.
Prior to his time at Montoya Tennis Training, Perez spent three seasons as an assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Xavier University of Louisiana. During his tenure, he identified and recruited student-athletes who fit the program's academic and athletic standards, developed the strength and conditioning programs for both teams, and coordinated match travel logistics and team operations.
Perez helped guide Xavier through one of the most successful stretches in program history. During his three seasons on staff, the programs combined to produce 12 NAIA All-Americans, capture five conference championships, reach the NAIA Women's Final Four, advance to the NAIA Men's Elite Eight, and finish as national runners-up at the NAIA Women's Indoor National Championships.
Alongside his collegiate coaching experience, Perez operated his own high-performance coaching business in New Orleans from 2022-25. Through Sebastian Perez Tennis Coaching, he developed individualized training programs for nationally ranked junior players and collegiate prospects while overseeing tournament scheduling, travel logistics, and long-term player development. His athletes earned NCAA Division I opportunities, achieved ITF Junior success, and reached top USTA national rankings.
Perez has also held coaching positions at Mimpify in the Hamptons, Tennis Process Academy in Pereira, Colombia, and Brown Billone Tennis Academy in Massachusetts, gaining experience working with nationally and internationally ranked players across the United States and South America.
A 2022 graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, Perez earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Administration.
