CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Jason Saretsky, the William W. "Bill" McCurdy Director of Track and Field/Cross Country, announced that Amber Spencer will join the Crimson staff as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 season. Spencer will be working with men's and women's sprints, hurdles and horizontal jumps.

Spencer comes to Cambridge after spending 12 seasons as an assistant coach at Babson College. While with the Beavers, Spencer developed and implemented training programs for sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers alongside her work in recruiting, fundraising, budget management and academic oversight. In 2024, Spencer was nominated for Assistant Coach of the Year, and the entire Babson staff were named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year. 

Spencer's contributions helped guide athletes to 11 all-conference honors in sprints, three NCAA National Qualifiers, and numerous program records, with one athlete being selected as an NCAA All-American in 2022. 

Spencer brings coaching experience from her time as an AmeriCorps Coach Across America program manager for Boston Public Schools students. Away from the track, Spencer has also worked as a physical therapist aide and office manager for Connections Physical Therapy in addition to her time as a customer and partner development manager with HubSpot. 

A native of Wellesley, Mass., Spencer earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wheaton College in 2014. At Wheaton, Spencer was tabbed NCAA Division III All-American in each of her four years on the track and field team. She was named an All-American in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as well as the 4x400 relay at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
