DAVIS, Calif. -- The No. 18 Harvard men's water polo team opened the Aggie Roundup against a pair of top-10 opponents and fell in each game at UC Davis' Schaal Aquatics Center on Saturday. The Crimson started the day with a 16-7 defeat to No. 4 California and capped the day's action with a 14-8 loss to No. 10 San Jose State.
Harvard (2-4) was led in scoring by first-year
Clay Carrington (Menlo Park, Calif.), the NWPC Rookie of the Week, with four goals. He scored once against Cal and notched a hat trick against SJSU. Three Crimson players scored twice against the Golden Bears with senior
Jack Burghardt (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was joined by junior
Tyler Hogan (Attleboro, Calif.) and
Lukas Peabody (San Diego, Calif.) with multiple goals.
First-year
Jonas Ransford (Newport Beach, Calif.) played a game and a half in goal, while senior
Oliver Price (La Jolla, Calif.) got a half a game in net. Ransford totaled six saves and Price added two.
Harvard wraps up the weekend against the host UC Davis on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET. The match-up between the Crimson and the No. 6 Aggies will be streamed live on ESPN+.
