Olympian Nicole Ross joined the Harvard fencing staff in 2020 after serving as an assistant coach at Cornell from 2016-18. Ross reunites with Harvard head coach Daria Schneider, who served in the same capacity at Cornell from 2016-19.

At Cornell, Ross helped the Big Red post many impressive victories, including a win over St. John’s for the first time since 1992. Prior to her time at Cornell, she was the head fencing coach at Marymount School for Girls and served as program coordinator for Win4Youth, Adecco group’s philanthropic wellness initiative. From 2018 to 2020 Ross served as a learning coach at U.S. Performance Academy, an online high school for elite student athletes. 

Ross’s fencing accolades include her selection to the 2021 and 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. She went on to win the gold medal with the Women’s Foil team at the 2018 World Championships, as well as a silver in 2017 and bronze in 2019. Ross is a ten-time member of the Senior National Team, serving as team captain since 2013.  She is currently ranked the 13th foil fencer in the world, with a career high ranking of 4th.

A 2013 graduate of Columbia with a degree in art history, Ross was the 2010 NCAA champion, the 2009 International Fencing Association (IFA) national champion and the 2008 Ivy League champion. Ross is currently training for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics while pursuing a master’s degree in psychology at The New School.
