Becca Block joined the Crimson coaching staff as an assistant coach in September 2018 and earned a promotion to Associate Head Coach in July 2021. Block enters her ninth season at Harvard in the 2026-27 academic year.
 
In 2026, Block helped guide Charlotte Hodgson to become the first midfielder in program history to be named the Ivy League Midfielder of the Year.
 
With the Crimson consistently ranked in the top 25 all season long in 2025, Harvard opened the year with three wins in its first four games, defeating UAlbany at Jordan Field in the season opener before notching a pair of upsets against No. 15 Navy and No. 23 UConn in late February.
 
Block helped lead the Crimson to its third straight visit to the Ivy Tournament in 2024. Reaching as high as No. 20 in the national polls, Harvard had its first 10-win season since 2011 as the veterans of the 2024 team led the way.
 
In 2023, the Crimson qualified for the Ivy League Tournament behind six All-Ivy honorees, including unanimous First Team All-Ivy selections in Callie Hem ’24 and Shea Jenkins ’23. Harvard posted back-to-back appearances in the league tournament for the first time since the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
 
Returning to competition for the 2022 season, the Crimson advanced to the Ivy League Tournament and tallied six All-Ivy selections, including three first team honorees. Harvard made its first appearance in the conference tournament since 2017.
 
In Block’s first season with the program in 2019, Harvard totaled five All-Ivy selections, including First Team All-Ivy accolades for Keeley MacAfee ’19, who also gained IWLCA All-Northeast Region honors. The Crimson opened the 2020 season with a 3-3 mark before the remainder of the campaign was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Harvard’s 2021 season was also canceled due to COVID-19.
 
Prior to Harvard, Block spent two seasons at Oregon (2017 and 2018), helping Oregon’s defense improve each year. Block was instrumental in constructing a defensive unit that allowed 11.83 goals per game in 2018, down from 12 goals per game in 2017, when Oregon’s defense was 32nd in the nation with 10.18 caused turnovers per game.
 
Block arrived in Eugene after spending 2016 as an assistant at Florida, where she helped guide a Gator defense that finished the season 12th in the nation in scoring defense at 7.45 goals per game. Block began her coaching career at Vermont in 2014 and spent 2015 as an assistant at Michigan before heading to Gainesville.
 
As a player, Block distinguished herself as one of the premier defenders in women’s lacrosse. She played several years with the U.S. National Team after first making the team in 2012 and was the 2013 IWLCA Defender of the Year and an All-American as a senior at Syracuse. During her four-year college career, Block helped lead the Orange to the national title game in 2012 and a Final Four berth in 2010, while collecting Big East All-Academic honors twice.
 
Block has played professionally for the Long Island Sound in the United Women’s Lacrosse League. Block also played with Devon Wills on the U.S. national team, winning the 2017 U.S. Women’s World Cup and World Games.
 
In addition to Block’s collegiate playing and coaching experience, she was also a coach and counselor for the Syracuse University Elite Lacrosse Camps and helped organize and run the Laxfest Lacrosse Tournament in Syracuse, N.Y., from 2010-15.
 
Block graduated from Syracuse in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science.
