Jami Kranich joined the Harvard women's coaching staff before the 2022 season. In her role, Kranich develops and implements all components of goalkeeper player development as the goalkeeping coach.
In 2024, Kranich helped mentor second-team All-Ivy League selection, Rhiannon Stewart, during her first season as the starting goalkeeper for the Crimson. Stewart preformed excellently under Kranich's guidance, posting six clean sheets and a .811 save percentage which was good for second in the Ivy League. Thanks to the efforts of Stewart, Harvard mounted an incredible late season push, winning its final two games of the season to qualify for its second consecutive Ivy League Tournament.
The 2023 Harvard women's soccer season was one for the books as Kranich and the Crimson made history by becoming the first Ivy League Tournament Champions. Kranich's goalkeepers helped anchor a defense that only conceded 20 goals throughout the season. Led by All-Ivy League second team selection, Anna Karpenko, Harvard goalies posted a .583 save percentage and a 1.05 GAA. The Crimson's eight shutouts were also the second most in the Ivy League.
During the 2022 season, Kranich guided the Harvard goalkeepers combined to post a .882 goals against average, the second lowest mark in the Ivy League. Under her mentorship, Anna Karpenko posted the seventh lowest goals allowed total in Harvard women's soccer history. With her group anchoring the defensive effort, the Crimson posted a 12-1-3 regular season record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Kranich arrived in Cambridge after three seasons on staff in the same role at Boston College. Prior to her time in Chestnut Hill, Kranich spent time at Princeton University as an assistant coach, again leading the goalkeeper coaching responsibilities.
A talented player herself, Kranich was a four-year starter at goalkeeper at Villanova University. She posted 269 saves and a 72.5% save percentage in her four years with the Wildcats, leading the team to the BIG EAST Tournament in 2012 and 2013. While at Villanova she was named third-team All-BIG EAST in 2012 as well as the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. Kranich was also the first Villanova player to participate in a World Cup event as an undergraduate when she helped the U20 Team USA squad to a championship at the U20 World Cup in Japan in 2012.
After her decorated collegiate career, Kranich was drafted by the Boston Breakers in the 2014 NWSL draft - one of only two goalkeepers selected in the draft - with the 32nd pick in the fourth round. She played with the Breakers for two seasons, starting nine games during the 2016 season.
