Carl Junot was hired as the Virginia B. and James O. Welch’52 Head Coach for Harvard Men’s Soccer on July 8,2010.
In his first season at the helm, Junot led Harvard to twovictories over ranked opponents, including an exciting 2-1 victoryover No. 13 Stanford in the first night game held at the SoldiersField Soccer Stadium (Sept. 4). Four Crimson players garnerednods to the All-Ivy League team, including three on theall-conference second team. In 2011-12, two Harvard student athletes received All-AncientEight honors, including Scott Prozeller who earned a spot on theAll-Ivy first team. Junot has also helped the Crimson men's soccer program hostthree international exhibitions for charity for Partners in Health,as Harvard took on Haiti in 2011 and Haiti and Cape Verde in2012. Junot, who also served as the head coach at Tufts, worked as anassistant coach with the Crimson program from 2008-2010, helpingHarvard post a 26-10-1 overall record, win the Ivy League title in2009 and reach the NCAA tournament both seasons.

Welooked nationally for our next head coach, but it soon became clearthat the best candidate was right in our backyard. Carl knowsHarvard, he knows the program, and he has a proven track record inrecruiting student-athletes. He will continue the upward ascent ofour men’s soccer program for years to come.”

During his time at Harvard, Junot, who is a member of theAssociation of Harvard Latino Faculty and Staff, coached 11 All-IvyLeague selections, including 2009 Player of the Year Andre Akpan’09 and Rookie of the Year Brian Rogers. In his second yearwith the Crimson, Harvard won 14 games en route to the program's13th Ivy League crown, as the team went 5-1-1 in conference action.The Crimson also reached the third round of the NCAA tournament forthe first time since 1987. In addition, Akpan and KwakuNyamekye ’10 were selected in the 2010 Major League SoccerSuperDraft, while Michael Fucito ’08-09 was taken in the 2009draft.
Harvard went 12-6-0 overall and posted a 5-2-0 Ivy League markduring Junot's first season with the program in 2008, as theCrimson advanced to the second round of the NCAAChampionships. Harvard has now qualified for the NCAAtournament four straight seasons, the second longest streak inprogram history (1968-72).
Junot previously served as an assistant coach at New Mexico forsix seasons, including five years on the Lobo sidelines as afull-time assistant. In addition to his coaching duties, Junotserved as the assistant director of the Lobo Soccer Academy. He wasalso the director of the Olympic development program at New Mexicofrom 2005-06.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Junot played his college soccerfor the highly ranked Furman Paladins. Junot led the Paladins tothree Southern Conference Championships in his four seasons. Duringhis junior season, Junot guided the Paladins to the NCAA TournamentElite Eight. He made a return trip to the NCAA tournament as teamcaptain during his senior season. Following his senior year he wasnamed to the All-Southern Conference and All-Southern Region teamsas well as being named team MVP. He was also invited to take partin the MLS Combine in 2001.
Junot earned his bachelor's degree from Furman in 2001 and laterreceived his master's in sports administration from New Mexico in2007. His wife, Brigid, is a native of Melbourne, Australia. Carland Brigid reside in Somerville, Mass., with their daughter,Mirabel.
