Sanam Singh will enter his seventh season with the Crimson in 2024-25 and his fourth as associate head coach.
During the 2023-24 season, Singh played a crucial role in the teams success, helping lead the Crimson to a 22-7 record, a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Sweet 16, and its third straight Ivy title. He was instrumental in leading All-Ivy and All-American level talent throughout the season. Cooper Williams '27 (first team singles and doubles), Henry von der Schulenburg '24 (first team singles), Daniel Milavsky '25 (first team doubles, second team singles), and Ronan Jachuck '24 (second team singles) all received All-Ivy nods under the direction of Singh while Williams also earned All-America honors following a quarterfinals run in the NCAA Individual Championships singles draw.
In 2022-23, Singh played an instrumental role in the Crimson first 20-win season since 2018. The Crimson reached a high of No. 7 in the nation, advanced to the Sweet 16 as a part of its 28th NCAA Tournament appearance, and won its second straight Ivy League title while going undefeated in league play. Singh was also a crucial factor in the coaching of several All-Ivy honorees in Harris Walker '23 (first team singles and doubles), Henry von der Schulenburg '24 (first team singles), Daniel Milavsky '25 (first team doubles, second team singles), Ronan Jachuck '24 (second team singles and doubles), and Steven Sun '23 (second team singles). For the second straight season, Singh was honored as the ITA Northeast Region Assistant Coach of the year.
Finding great success in the 2021-22 season, Singh helped lead the Crimson to its 31st Ivy League Championship title after earning an undefeated 7-0 conference record. Harvard secured a 19-5 overall record to make its 27th appearance in the postseason and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after playing host in the opening rounds. The Crimson remained a steady presence in the top-15 of the national rankings, reaching a season-high of No. 10 from the ITA. Additionally, Singh helped coach five All-Ivy League selections. At the conclusion of the season, Singh was honored with the ITA Northeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year recognition.
The Ivy League/Harvard canceled the entire 2020-21 season due to COVID-19.
During the shortened 2019-20 season with the Crimson, Singh helped guide Harvard to an 11-1 record, holding an undefeated record at home in dual match play. The Crimson also received a season-high national ranking of No. 11 from the ITA, its highest team ranking since the 1998 season.
Singh joined the Harvard men’s tennis coaching staff after serving as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at the University of Virginia for the 2017-18 season. While with the Cavaliers, Singh served as a hitting partner for the 11 players on the team, planning practice sessions and drills based on their individual development needs. Singh also aided the coaching staff in ways to improve practice sessions and increase team motivation throughout the season. During competition, Singh assisted in deciding match line-ups and play strategies while also providing on-court support during home and away matches.
Following his time at Virginia, Singh also worked with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as a summer collegiate team coach. Traveling with a team of collegiate players, he joined the teams at ATP Challenger events at Binghamton and Lexington, preparing pre-match strategies as well as post-match analysis for players.
During his career, Singh competed on the ATP World Tour for sixyears (2011-17), reaching No. 138 in ATP World Doubles Rankings and No. 266 in ATP World Singles Rankings. In 2014, Singh competed at the U.S. Open. Throughout his time on the ATP Professional Tour, Singh collected four ATP Challenger doubles titles, six runner-up ATP Challenger Doubles titles, reached an ATP 250 Doubles Semi-Final, and won 10 ITF Futures Singles Titles and eight ITF Futures Doubles Titles.
Singh has also competed internationally at the South Asian and Asian Games, winning a bronze, two silver, and a gold medal in the Men’s Doubles, Team, and Mixed Doubles events. Singh also earned six Davis Cup selections for India, competing in 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
At the collegiate level, Singh attended the University of Virginia between 2007-11, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs. As a Cavalier, Singh ranked as high as No. 1 and No. 2 in the ITA Singles and Doubles collegiate rankings, respectively. Singh also won the ITA National Indoor Team Championship title and the ACC Team Championship four-consecutive times (2007-11).
