Valentina De Figueiredo joined the Harvard Sports Medicine staff in a full-time capacity in July 2026, after serving as an athletic trainer - transition to practice program, for the 2025-26 academic year.
 
As a full-time athletic trainer, De Figueiredo’s primary Division-I teams are women’s ice hockey and women’s tennis, while also caring for Harvard's club sports. In her one-year fellowship with Harvard, De Figueiredo worked with the Crimson Football and Track and Field programs.
 
De Figueiredo arrived in Cambridge with a diverse background in athletic training, having spent time with the South Florida men’s (2023) and women’s (2025) soccer teams, Saint Leo’s lacrosse and volleyball programs (2023), MLS’ Orlando City SC (2024), and two different Florida high schools. De Figueiredo also spent the Summer of 2024 at the John Cranko School of Stuttgart Ballet in Windsor, Connecticut.
 
During De Figueiredo’s first few months at Harvard, the Florida graduate was part of the Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Cardiology Fellowship Rotation at Massachusetts General Hospital. A leader amongst her peers, De Figueiredo was also the founder and president of Florida’s Athletic Training Student Association (2021-23).
 
Graduating from UF in May 2023, with a Bachelor of Science in applied physiology and kinesiology, with a minor in dance and certification in dance in medicine, De Figueiredo later earned a Master of Science in athletic training from South Florida in 2025.
