Story Line
The Crimson travels to Hanover, N.H., Friday night for a rematch
against Ivy League foe Dartmouth. First serve is slated for 7
p.m.
Last Time Out
Harvard fell in straight sets, 25-15, 25-22, 23-23, to the Big
Green last Friday in its Ancient Eight opener. Sophomore Anne
Carroll Ingersoll led the Crimson with 11 kills and three blocks,
while sophomore Christine Wu and freshman Taylor Docter paced the
team in digs with 12 a piece. Senior Lily Durwood handed out 33
assists.
Scouting the Big Green
Dartmouth sits atop the Ivy League standings with Columbia at 1-0
in conference action. The Big Green, which is 5-6 overall, was led
by Megan MacGregor who had a double-double, recording 12 kills and
11 dig. Madeline Baird led both squads with 16 kills and a .441
hitting percentage, while Jessie Hartman added 14 digs.
Baird paces the Big Green in kills with 3.48 per set. Kendall
Houston has a team-best 7.54 assists per set, while Amber
Bryant's 3.29 digs per set are a team best.
The Series
Harvard holds a 42-13 lead in the series which dates back to
1981.
Climbing the Ladder
Chelsea Ono Horn's four service aces against Holy Cross moved
her into 10th all-time on the career aces list at Harvard. She has
75 career aces. She is nine away from moving into ninth.
Katherine Kocurek is just five digs away (four to tie) from moving
into second on the all-time digs list. She has 1,288 career digs.
She need's 76 digs to take over the program record.
Lily Durwood is just 106 assists away from being the third Harvard
player to accumulate 3,000 handouts. She is third on the all-time
list with 2,894.
Leaders of the Pack
Anne Carroll Ingersoll leads the league in hitting with a .352
clip. She has 98 kills on 199 attempts. The Rancho Sante Fe,
Calif., native is second in blocks with 0.94 per set and also ranks
fifth in points (3.80 per set), ninth in kills (2.97) and 10th in
service aces (0.27 per set).
Lily Durwood's 11.0 assists per set against Dartmouth puts
her atop the conference standings in league play. She is fourth in
the league in all matches played with 9.43 assists.
On the Horizon
Harvard continues play away from home, heading to New York for a
weekend series. The Crimson travels to Cornell Oct. 9 (7 p.m.) and
Columbia Oct. 10 (4 p.m.).
