Ingersoll Leads Three Crimson in Double Figures as Harvard Downs Cornell, 3-1

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Harvard women's volleyball team snapped a two-match losing skid and picked up its first conference win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Cornell Friday night. The Crimson (5-9, 1-2 Ivy) defeated the Big Red (4-10, 1-2 Ivy), 21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-17, for its first win over its league rival since Oct. 9, 2004.

Sophomore Anne Carroll Ingersoll led three Crimson players in double-digit kills with a match-high 12. She also had five blocks and three digs in the winning effort. Classmate Sandra Lynne Fryhofer registered 11 kills and four blocks, while junior Mikaelle Comrie added 10 strikes. Senior Lily Durwood handed out 35 assists, while sophomore Christine Wu led both teams with 26 digs.

The Crimson held the advantage in kills, 49-46; digs, 53-51; hitting percentage, .256-.135; and blocks, 9-2. Senior Katherine Kocurek's seven digs helped the Kingwood, Texas, native move into second on the all-time digs list with 1,298 career digs.

Harvard returns to the court Saturday at Columbia. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
