NEW YORK CITY – The Harvard field hockey
team rallied from a first half deficit to tie Columbia, but it
wasn't enough as the Crimson lost to the Lions, 2-1, in
overtime for the second time this week. Harvard drops to 5-12
overall and 2-5 in the Ivy League.
Columbia tallied the first goal, just three minutes into the
contest when Maggie O'Connor scored on a pass from Jane
Gartland. The Lions took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but Harvard got
on the board quickly in the second session, scoring on one of its
six corners. Sophomore Georgia McGillivray scored on passes from
Allie Kimmel and Kristin Bannon off a penalty corner at 37:34.
McGillivray was one of two Crimson players with two shots in the
game. Cynthia Tassopoulos made seven stops in the cage.
