CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Harvard freshman Devan Kennifer scored four goals at the 2009 Eastern Championship and was honored as the Rookie of the Tournament, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced Sunday afternoon.  Kennifer was also named to the All-Eastern Championship second team, just two days after Kennifer was selected as the CWPA Northern Division Rookie of the Year.

A native of Monterey, Calif., Kennifer scored once against No. 14 Hartwick Friday, and added two more tallies against No. 16 Indiana Saturday.  She also made five steals and had three ejections drawn against the Hoosiers.  On Sunday, Kennifer netted the game-winning goal against Bucknell, as Harvard finished seventh at the Eastern Championship with a 9-8 victory over the Bison.

Kennifer concluded her rookie season with 75 goals to lead the Crimson in scoring.
